In prior years, the Lowell Cemetery invited artists to participate in an Annual Art Exhibition held in the fall. The project began with a call for entries and an invitation to artists to visit the Cemetery from January to September to become inspired by our monuments and grounds.
All entries to the exhibit were reviewed by a panel of jurors with an expertise in the visual arts. Awards of $1,000.00 for First Place, $500.00 for Second Place and $250.00 for Third Place were presented on the day of the exhibit, which took place on the grounds of the Cemetery. First Place pieces became part of the Lowell Cemetery’s Permanent Collection of Art, and are displayed in the administration building.
Artists are always encouraged to set up easels throughout the Cemetery at any time to create works of art.
